It has absessed. That means it is full of pus. Your cat needs a vet for an antibiotic and probably to have the wound drained. Leave it alone until morning, anything you do will just cause your cat pain. If you try to open the wound yourself, you will just introduce more bacteria and maybe make it worse. Anything you do to the outside skin will not reach the infection anyway and will hurt.

there's nothing much you can do. That big bump is full of pus, a reaction to the bacteria from the other animal. If you can find a way to drain it then try. Usually the cat will scratch hard enough to open the wound and it will start to drain, then you can help it out by squeezing like you would a pimple. But be careful, the best bet is the Vet because the bump can actually open INSIDE the cat and drain the pus inside the cat. Get your kitty to the vet as soon as possible!

It sounds like an abscess and you will need to see the vet for antibiotics, but you may be able to give kitty some relief. Usually there is what looks like a tuft of matted hair on the swelling. If you pull it, it will come out and there will be a little round thing that looks like a seed on the end of it. Then the wound will drain pus and blood - it smells horrible. Apply warm compresses until it all drains out. The relief of pressure will help with the pain. It's not hard to do.

Sounds like an abcess...basically and infected wound and its full of infection and pus. It needs to be leaked out but let the vet do it. Until then make sure your cat is getting plenty of fluids and keep him indoors so this doesn't happen again. Do you know what bit him??? Get him to the vet first thing in the morning. Dont wait around on this.

Keep a close eye on the cat overnight. The bite has become infected. The vet may have to lance it, or give her antibiotics. It's good that the cat has ht's shots.

What ever you do, do NOT feed the cat any kind of people medicine like aspirin. There are places that are open for emergency vet care 24 hours a day. You ought to check the phone book to see if you could find any. If not, take the cat first thing in the morning and please keep us updated!

If you are able to take your cat to a vet, it'd make you feel better, because it sounds like an abcess which cats get often and can usually get over on their own, without the vet visit. But, to be on the safe side and get it off your mind, let the vet tell you that your cat's going to be okay.

It is infected, don't mess with it, the vet will either put the cat on atnibiotics or drain it . You can apply some 50/50 mix of peroxide and water, but if it looks like it is healing it probably won't do any good.

The same thing recently happened to my daughter's cat. The swelling traveled through the body. Started in paw, moved to throat and then to left side of face. She was sooo weak. We had to pick her up to move her to water and litter box. She did not eat for several days and finally died during the night 5 days later.
As sick as that kitten was she still purred when we rubbed her. If the cat is extremely lethargic, periodically try to get it to drink and possibly eat and give it lots of loving.

It is an abcess. Have the vet lance it so you will not have pus all over the house!!!!!!!!
Hope the cat is up to date on rabies vaccine. You do not know what bit the cat.
