I check out the name and make sure it is appropriate for what I want. If i want just a good newspaper that will cover everything i will get the New York Times but if I want the same thing only less scholarly I would go with USA Today. It also varies from city to city. some are more political than others. You also have to look at how conservative or liberal they are. Some newspaper will focus on art or on foreign policy. i would first look at the type of newspaper it is and what it covers.

I suppose masthead, at least I do; I know the Sun is not very political so that's why I buy it.
Now, on what day I buy it: I just look at the front page and see what the headlining news is.

Yes, people usually buy the paper for the headlines. But some people only buy the local paper.

Probably the sports or the want ads. I go directly to the front section (news) and the second section (local).

We only buy the Sunday paper for the Coupons.. Any other news we get them fromm the Computer.... To much of a waste of paper...
