My 10 year old is going into 5th grade, and will have a 9:30 bedtime to start. We may move it up to 10 after we see how she does, but we're not certain.

Our 7 year old is going into 2nd grade and has a 9pm bed time, firm. He doesn't get a later bedtime until the same grade his sister did, which is 4th grade.

Our 4 year old is starting preschool and will have a 9pm bed time, as long as she does not bother her older sister. See, they are just now starting to share a room, but we need to make sure that no matter the time, she is asleep before our older daughter goes to bed. Otherwise, she'll stay up. Because of rooming situations, we can't change it around at all. So, that might take some getting used to. We'll see.

Kids need 8-10 hours of sleep every night for school. We start at 7:30 with showers and brushing teeth, bedtime is at 8 with tucking in, prayers and maybe a short story with Good Nights all around and that's it. This schedule works great, kids are up at 6:50 making beds, folding pj's and ready to go. Another thing to remember is that they also need BREAKFAST, it's so important.

In our home very young children slept at 8:00pm, with naps throughout the day. Older children slept at about 9:00pm to 9:30 pm. However, I'm an adult an I've noticed I feel better when I sleep at the same time as older children, instead of the wee hours I've become accustomed to. Hope that was helpful.

During the school year, we start getting ready around 8 or 8:30. Lights out by 9.

8:30 during the school year, 9:00-9:30 in the summer

If there is one thing my mother taught me before I had my daughter it was the following:

Make time for you before you go to bed so you can relax and wind down. Make the bed time and stick to it. Don't break the time as they will always try to break it. I have my daughter (9yrs) go to sleep at 9pm and she's usually asleep by 9:30. It works out perfectly. On the weekends I can either keep that 9:00 time or make it before 10:00 if she was well behaved.

One thing she doesn't like is when she is on punishment and I take bed time away and make it earler. Hint Hint :) May work in your case too.

Enjoy the R&R.

During the school year they are all in bed by 8pm. In the summer we are a bit more flexible withour 9 y/o and she can stay up until 10 most nights. Her two sisters are 3 and 5 and they go to bed at 8pm every night, unless we have special plans.

During the summer we don't really have a set limit. When school is in, usually 9:30 or depends on how they are when trying to wake them up. I have a 10 & 6 yr old.

You may think I'm crazy but I let my daughter go to bed when she wants. Started that when she was 5. She is now 13. Pretty soon the thrill of staying up late was gone, and she started going to bed when she was tired. She is 13 now and usually goes to bed between 830 and 900 pm even on weekends. And we never have to fight about it. When kids have a bedtime they will fight to stay up later and never go to bed early even when tired
