I think it's important what the world thinks of America. World politics is complicated and the USA can't afford to be a loner.

The US does not need to get involved if it doesn't choose to.
Nothing requires the US to act like the world's police force, and it's rather embarrassing for the US to act like it's put upon when it keeps volunteering to get involved in conflicts between other nations.
Either the US should just stay out of it, or should acknowledge that it chose to get involved. But the country should stop wining about it. It's a big country now, just over 230 years old, and its time it stop acting so immature and complaining about how everyone keeps making it do things it doesn't want to do.
