This guy I've know for a while, we've always just been acquaintances. He's flirted with me before. I even feel like he's looked into my eyes and down and my lips. He's done things to get my attention. But when I've tried to get close to him personally he acts strang toward me, distant and avoids me for a while after this. Am I just not that high on his list for attraction? Why does he act kind of into me but then backs off when I try to talk to him. For all he knows I just want to be friends? What's his deal?

There are guys out there that are just in it for the chase.
As long as it was him doing the flirting and stuff to get your attention then it was cool, it was a game, a challenge.
But when YOU started doing the chasing, the looking, the flirting and stuff then he lost interest.
Men and women play a game of cat and mouse all the time. It is a sport.
If you want him to keep paying attention to you and some day possibly ask you out then you need to play the game.
Be the mouse.......ignore him when he flirts, act like he isn't there, and act like he just really isn't that important to you.

he's probably a flake. if you can enjoy the attention from him as something fun and meaningless then might as well enjoy it, but no sense in giving the guy more credit than he deserves. he probably likes how it feels to get your attention as someone who doesn't particularly need or want anything from him, just someone who enjoys the flirt. make sense? let it be meaningless. if he gets pushy though, punt the dude, coz then he's wanting more from you but he's a control freak who has to have it all a certain way and you don't need to waste time with basket cases like that. there's other people out there maybe more fun to flirt with, too!

He may just be leading you on. I would try reverse tactics to see if this guy is really into you or just goofing off, when he starts flirting with you, act like you don't notice make yourself unavailable at certain times and just see where things go.

I had a friend who kept doing this finally came to the conclusion he only liked me when he was drinking. Otherwise he was too shy to talk to me. So I just gave up, hes never come around when he's sober. Honestly he may be just shy, either grab him and kiss him or give up and acept the friendship. Only your gut can tell you the answer to that one.

It maybe that your "too much a woman for him", and he is just "feeling you out" to see what his prospects are...
It could be that your his "sounding board" for another person... He tries things with you to see if it works, then goes an does it with the woman he really wants.
Or, he is just trying to see how far he can get you to "notice" him and when you start to get "serious" he gets scared and runs like a rabbit.

He just may not feel comfortable in that kind of situation. I'm sure he is shy or there may be something in his life which complicates things. Good luck.

He might be too shy when it comes to get too close to a girl, see...some boys(or men, whatever applies to you) they are fine and outgoing when is just a friend thing, but when they like a girl, and this girl is outgoing and talkative, etc, they become very shy. So..try just to understand him.

I know exactly what you mean.It could be that he just likes the attention and playing with your emotions. Some dudes like to do that - no matter how sweet they seem to be. The only way to find out is to talk to him about it....

could be one of those guys like i had in college he wasnt allowed to hav sex till marriage he turned me on and off like a bloody light bulb he would flirt but when i did it was like i committed a crime and all i did was touch him on his back and all of a sudden im trying to seduce him but it was okay for him to ask me out on dates and hold my hand freakin weirdo they just weird move on to the next honey lifes too short for game players
