Walk away. You offered her something - she has the choice to take it or leave it.

Fortunately for you, I think that you escaped a scam of some sort, she was trying to get you around the corner for some unknown, and most probably; totally shady reason. You are lucky that you weren't beaten up and robbed. If a person is truly needy, they will generally take what help is offered to them without having to be away from a certain place or in a certain place. Have a good night!!!

Do not go around the corner! If she was truly panicked, the water or nothing would have been great! Something funky is around the corner! And whatever she is offering or has waiting is not worth it! Any police station can help her with a womans shelter.

I would have been leery about going around the corner. To me it sounds as if there was someone waiting around the corner for you. I would have stated that I was in a hurry and offered one more time for water or soda where you were.

I don't follow anyone anywhere as a general rule..Sounds to me like you were probably being targeted for a muggin' or a proposition..either way. Where are these kids she supposedly cares for? How do you try to find the shelter?...you look in a phonebook find the address and go there, pretty simple. This ladies story is full of holes.

where are these kids anyways ?If I dont see kids with her I may not believe her .. unless shes all beat up.. sad but true .

I would give her $2 and send her around the corner by herself. I've helped out people on the street, and I've never had people refuse service from any specific place - they've been happy to get what they could from where ever. It sounds a little suspicious to me. It's a shame that's where our minds immediately go, but you have to be so careful. So - you could still help by giving her a couple of bucks, but you stay safe by not going with her around the corner.

First you have to ask yourself, where are the kids? Did she leave them with the batterer? If so, that should be the first concern. Then I would call the police, because they should be involved, for her protection, and for getting the kids. When the poloce arrive I would leave, and hope the woman is smart enough to take the kids, leave, and never come back!

Give her a 50 dollar bill and say......look honey i am REALLY sorry but i have an important meeting to attend that i am already 20 mins late for. Then i would just rush off....i mean what else can ya do? When you offer help and the person takes advantage of your hospitality.

hmm.... I'd ask her what the difference was. And maybe she'll tell me that around the corner is where the man who raped her picks up chicks, and wants to get back at him. Then I'd tell her than begger's can't be choosers, and buy her a soda at the store we preside in at the moment.

Give her a couple of dollars and get out of there. Around the corner suggests that you might be getting robbed in a few moments. If she doesn't want to do what you want (after all, you are being the charitable one), then it seems sketchy to me.
