My son has been complaining of a tummy ache for the past 2 days.
Sometimes with toddlers, you don't know how much is real, and how much is their imagination. But I just can figure this one out.

Yesterday night I gave him 1 Tums smooth dissolve. It didn't help.

Today I gave him some Mylecon drops, thinking it must be gas pains. Still no relief.

Today I took him to the doctor. She felt his belly, and listened to his gutt with her stethescope and said she felt no lodged stool, or intestinal blockage, and heard no sounds of distress. So according to her, he is fine.

But all night tonight, he is laying on the couch saying "My tummy hurts, my tummy hurts".

When you ask him where it hurts, he points to his bellybutton. (Not his side....so I doubt it is an appendix issue)
He has been having regular bowel movements without incident (no diarrhea or constipation). And he has been eating all of his meals (no nausea, vomiting). No fever.

So, anyone have ANY idea? Thanks in advance

try small amounts of 7-up and see if that helps

7-up or any clear liquids.
My six month old did the same thing tonight shortly after he wanted his bottle and went right to sleep.
My three year old well he likes his back rubbed, even more so when he doesn't feel good.
Of course sometimes you can't tell if it is real or if its an attention getter, but when he says he doesn't feel good I don't let him eat anything extra and very little at a time, if your little man is hungry try toast plain, or a peace of bread. and limit how much liquid you give him, cause you will more than likely have a bigger mess to clean up.
I wouldn't ever give my youngster tums, cause it may make it worse, causes more gas and bubbles and can make them sick.
hope he feels better soon.

If it is just happening at bedtime it could be he just doesnt want to go to bed or it could be something he is eating at dinner time that doesnt agree with him. I wouldnt be giving him any type of medicine unless the doctor prescribes it. The reason is because it masks the signs if he does have something really wrong. I would lay him on his back and gently rub his little tummy with my finger tips this way you can feel if it seems tight and swollen and will relax his tummy if it really is hurting him. More than likely if it only happens at night tho he just doesnt want to go to bed.

He might have seen something on tv about the belly button hurting. Or has there been a big change in his life? Are you pregnant? If you're pregnant, he might associate your growing belly with pain in his belly.

Bring on the pedialyte and get ready for a long night! Good luck.

There's a chance your kid is faking to get attention, I have a little sister who does something similar, and you say you have two kids? have you been paying less attention to your 4 yr old? But just incase you might want to go to another doctor for a second opinion.
