Junk mail. Anyone getting too much junk mail?

Question

I get a bunch of postal junk mail all the time. Junk mail is pretty easy to delete or stop on line but how is it done concerning U.S. mail? Businesses have got to be selling or trading names and I'd like to stop all the non-essential stuff that I get. Any ideas?

I'm talking about U.S.MAIL and NOT email. How do you stop the junk mail that comes to your home? Thank You:

I write "return to sender, unsolicited ad" on it and toss it back in the outgoing mail. If it does get sent back to the sender unopened, you generally get off the mail list. I prefer postal junk over email junk. At least the postal junk only invades my like when I intentionally go to the box. Email crap streams in 24/7.

If you are getting a lot of junkmail in the mail, you should save it all in a box and once a month, take it to a senior citizen's home. The senior citizens can have fun opening them and seeing some exciting new items or even find a hobby from them. It's a win-win situation. You get to recycle, you get to do good stuff for the community, plus you may make someones day, when they are lonely and feeling blue.

You can write to some of the people who send junk snail mail and ask them to stop, and some will. Others won't or don't, so just toss them without opening them.

One caution: Be sure to shred any that look like they are credit card offers.Many contain checks that can be cashed by anyone who finds them in your garbage! also, just shred all the credit card offers coz someone could possibly find them and fill them out and get a card in your name.
Better to be safe than sorry.
