Maybe your potty chair has some sharp edge or something similar.
I remember different potties having a different feel, the one I liked best was a glass one, that had a wide, flat rim. All the others would dig into my butt.
Put your hand on top and press and see whether you can feel pressure points (don't forget (s)he sits on that thing for a while, waiting for things to happen...
Otherwise is a little old for that, I went to the full size toilet by the time I was three (was clean at age 11 months).

well if it hurts maybe he's constipated which of course means he's not drinking enough water and could get dehydrated. You should try giving him some aloe vera juice which is natural mix it with apple juice each day to keep him regular and stool soft. his stool could be too HARD. Then again have you tried to test him for Worms. I'm not saying that he has worms. Did you know worms are very common in children??? Nobody wants to talk about it.

I would suggest that you take him to the restroom every half hour. If he goes #1 or #2 give him praise or go to a dollar store and buy some little toys and let him pick them out. pick up maybe 10 toys they are little fun things that he may enjoy but won't break your pockets.

keep them in a box that has a fun color like yellow, blue, or red with something cool on it. Keep it someplace high but where he can see it.

Tell him when you remember to potty you get a nice toy from the Good Boy box.

This actually worked with my nephew my sister was having same problem as you. When I came out to see her this is what I did. I bought like $20 toys they were 99 cents each. I bought hot wheels cars, and all sorts of stuff at the dollar store everything is a dollar.

My nephew only saw they were toys and he was thrilled to have a goal to work towards it took him ONE week to stop urinating on himself and doing #2. we sould praise him and make a big deal out of him going to the restroom on his own. he felt like a superstar and then when you take them every 30 minutes it is a great way to remind them. Maybe use a kitchen timer. Don't be lazy

also try maybe getting him a new potty chair or put some cool stickers on it. YOu have to play psychology on the kids.

I'm just suggesting. I'm not a doctor. Use at your own risk.
good luck.

He might not be sitting right on the potty chair and pinches his little nuts. I would just take him in to use the potty about the time he usually goes and sit there with him . Or just keep reminding him. My son had a few accidents in his underwear after being potty trained and after about 4 consecutive accidents I made him rinse them out in the toilet after rinsing his little butt of in the tub with cool water just cool enough to make it not so pleasant. When forced to have to rinse the underwear out the accidents stopped. But check how he is sitting on the potty just to make sure he isn't pinching something.

My 6 yr old still frets about using the toilet for #2. I try to give him a glass of prune juice (we call it raisin juice) when he's especially anxious to keep him from getting constipated, cause that does hurt, and we do fun things while he sits on the toilet. I make him sit on the toilet every night before his bath and we play I Spy or read books. Then if he doesn't go, it's not a big deal but I don't make a big deal when he does go either. I just say everyone poops every day. Look at his kiddie potty, could it be uncomfortable? We got a cushie toilet that sits on the big toilet. Maybe it's hemorrhoids?

We got a singing potty chair. The kids really like to make it sing when they went #1 or #2.

Good Luck.

be patient and work with him. Maybe set up a reward system like if he potties then he can have candy or get a toy. My son, after months of working with him and encouraging, finally stopped and does good now. I bought him batman underwear as a reward. good luck

It took me 5 days to get my 3 year old son to pee in the toilet, the pooping took about a month. I just let him wear regualr underwear instead of training diapers. Plus he wouldnt stop pooping in his underwear so i made up a chart for everytime he pooped he could put whatever sticker he wanted on it, plus, i took away his favorite toys, his stuffed animals, which are his friends he loves dearly, that worked wonders. He had to poop in the toilet if he wanted an animal back, then i would let him chose. He was excited about the sticker thing and slowing getting his animals back after i took them away 1 by 1. Prob just an excuse he uses so he dont get in trouble. This kid is smarter than you think....dont let him get the best of you. I have a 6 and almost 4 yr old plus one on the way, I know their tricks. Lol

just what he is saying, there is a difference when he sits on his potty than when he is standing up,its hard to believe that he would say it hurt if it didn't. This is something you will have to find out why

I have no idea, some kids just take longer. My five year old took until 2 months after her 5 year birthday to be day trained, her and her 3 y/o sister still wear pull ups to bed because they wake up wet most mornings. Some kids just take longer than others I suppose.

Take him outside and hose him off at that age he is just being lazy. Stop it now or the kids at school will tease him and that will be worst, don't be so soft he is old enough to know better he is not 2.
