alrighty, so my oral surgeon used dissolvable stitches on me and they went disappeared after a week. i have no pain, no soreness, some tenderness at times, but i have these holes where i guess the teeth were and when i eat, food gets stuck in them and i'm worried about bacterial infection. I just wanted to know if this was normal because i've never heard anyone mention it post extraction...

Oh yeah, its cool. Eventually your gums will fill in. The same happened to me. I do remember there was a period of time I couldn't drink from a straw..cause that can prevent the sockets from healing. Be sure to keep those areas especially clean. Don't over do it just be mindful. But to me your on the path of healing!

I had my 2 lower wisdom teeth removed not long ago and the worst pain was felt about the 2 or 3rd day. I went back to the dentist cause I thought i had a dry socket and he told me I was fine. That the pain is normal and may last up to a week. I would call your dentist and just ask to be on the safe side. Believe I know what you are going thru. The pain is terrible!!! My pain killers didn't work either. If you do not have a dry socket your pain will go away soon, hopefuly. Try a hot pack also. Good Luck!

I got my wisdom teeth pulled about month ago. I think I did have dissovable stitches - I could feel something back there. But my surgeon gave me this plastic syringe thing that I fill with water and squirt into the holes to get food out. He told me I have to clean em everytime I eat till the holes heal, otherwise they could get infected if they heal over food. So yea...Im surprised yours didnt give you something like that :\

I myself just had my wisdom teeth extracted about a month ago. I was also worried about the "holes". Food is still getting caught in them, though it is much better now. This is perfectly normal though. I know it is very bothersome, try rinsing with listerine or salt water. It will help loosen the food.

Get one of those Reach flosser things.. I had mine out in Feb, and food still always gets stuck back there. You'll probably be spitting out chunks of rotting food if you don't...
I think food always got stuck back there at the same rate before extraction, it's just that few people floss all the way to the last teeth to really notice.

It can take up to 6 months for the extraction sites to fully heal. You are going to get food and such in the area but unless you have any pain or discomfort, don't worry about it.

Yes it is normal and your saliva will break down the stuck food. Just brush and rinse regularly the holes will eventually fill in

Yes, this is normal. It helps to get a plastic syringe and flush after eating so nothing gets stuck inside until it heels properly. Also rinse with mouthwash.

I had the same thing. The gums grow over in a few weeks. Just keep the stuff out of there and it will be OK.
