A round or flat brush when blow drying, straightening balm, and shampoos for straightening hair. Use the brush under your hair when blow drying.
I have extremely curly hair, it lays in corkscrews naturally and I do use straightening products and a round brush when I want to straighten my hair out. Works great.

Clothes irons are even worse for hair than flat irons. Do you use a metal plate iron or ceramic plate? Ceramic is a lot less damaging. The only alternative that comes to mind is to get it chemically straightened, but I'm sure that's damaging, too, and you'd have to get the roots touched up after so long.

If your hair is almost naturally straight or wavy and not curly, this is easy. You can try wrapping a scarf tightly around your head after you shower and over night. Or you can just grab a brush and run it through your hair while you blow dry it.
Also, use Frizz-Ease's winding down cream. You don't need frizzy hair to use this product...hahaha. It just helps get some of the wave out temporarily.

wrap it around your head and tie it down with a scarf before you go to bed

This will also prevent split-ends and you should use a satin scarf because it will not pull your hair out
