still the computer still says Invalid Partition. I have windows 98 to work with and might have windows 2000 pro. if my dad can find it.

this is what I see. I turn on the computer it says compax and in the bottem right corner f10 for setup then it go's black and in the top left corner it says Invalid Parttition. I don't know much about computers but that is as far as I can get. I hope this helps but it might not. Thats all I know.

The boot has to be on the primary partition, especially for win9x. 2000 and XP doesn't matter so much. If you have made any changes, such as moving hard drives around, make sure the primary partition exists on IDE-0 Master. The drive may also be formatted for NTFS and Win9x does not recognize NTFS, only FAT32. There's just a whole host of possibilities, you're going to have to give more info that what you've provided, such as configuration, OS, memory and other specs to adequately troubleshoot the situation.

check in the menu compter file window and see if some of the files are checked do a computer check and see if you are in the system on the password file also check to make sure every thing is pluged in right and it should work.
