Each service sets its own standards for this and there are also differences based on officer or enlisted and some jobs. Then you can add in that there are differences based on prior service or first time.

Currently, the Army has a maximum age of 42 for an initial enlistment as an enlisted member, and a maximum age of 35 for a first time commission as an officer. I believe that Chaplains and Doctors get exempted from the maximum commission age but I am not positive about it. The Army will also let you enlist at an older age, if you have prior service. They use a formula fo your current age minus the time you were already in must be below the 42 age cutoff.

I believe that most of the other services are still using a 35 maximum age for enlistment with no prior service, but I am not sure since I was Army and am looking only at going back into the Army.

Each branch has its upper age limit. If you are over 35 and want to enlist, call a recruiter. If you are too old you still might be able to get a waiver especially if you are prior service or have a unique skill.

depending on the branch of service the entry age is between 32 and 40 years of age but most have waivers of some type if the individual is physically and mentally able to handle the stresses of boot camp.

The official cut off age is 35 but with recruiting efforts falling short lately I hear they have been making exceptions.

I have a bicuspid aortic valve, so I can't enlist. But i heard its around 40. But if you are re-enlisting there is like no age limit.
