In some local chinese funeral cremations, why is it that the surviving family members burn paper money printed "Hell's money" if they prayed for the deceased to go to heaven? Doesnt make sense even it is considered symbolic offering.

Actually, Chinese traditional beliefs are inherently pessimistic in that one does not go to heaven at all. There is no clear concept of heaven, and only outstanding individuals become the gods that populate "heaven". Instead, one is judged first in hell before being reborn or punished. And hell has some reflections of real life here, in that, money makes the place go round. Just as you might bribe a policeman, you have to pay your way through to get a better deal down there.
Actually judging from the vast amounts of hell money burnt each festival, I wonder if the Central Bank down there has its hands full dealing with mass hyperinflation!

In this belief everyone actually goes to Hell, you cannot go to Heaven. They will be judged by Judge Bao with the Horse and Cow head guards man. Then the deceased will be sentenced to a level in Hell. There are 18 levels in Hell. If you have been really bad you go down further. Apparently they have jobs there too.

When their family burn the Hell money they think that their deceased relative can receive it. Sometimes they burn the paper house, yacht and car. Good business for those who make them - Baba - Buy And Burn Away. If dead people received what they burn for them - do they received all the rubbish when it is incinerated?

Yes doesn't make sense. But there is a way to Heaven thru Jesus Christ. Acknowledge him as God and saviour and he will prepare a place for you in Heaven.

Burning of paper money, joss-paper, etc, doesnt mean that the death in the other world will get the real notes or cashs in-order to survive.

Such practises is a form of respect and also is a way of enhancing the power or the will-energy for the death.

Only with such invisible energy, it allows a newly death to get on moving and also to have the energy to reach the destination.

Many people have always mistaken the usage of such paper items. Sad to know.

Colossians 3:a million If ye then be risen with Christ, seek for those issues that are above, the place Christ sitteth on the dazzling hand of God. I certainly have set my affections on issues eternal!! it is anticipated that human beings stay for approximately 70 years yet eternity has no time shrink. Why would I place priority on a 2d in time the place time runs out above a heavenly eternity the place there is no time in any respect? to place it it appears that evidently funds won't manage to purchase you eternal excitement however the middle that anticipate eternal excitement and lives a life captivating to God will greater advantageous than in all probability make a solid sum of money!! : )

I'm Chinese and I've been to these funerals. It's sort of like the Japanese, when you need money to cross the some river, like the river styx to get to heaven or hell.

Yes, I noticed "Hell Bank" written on Chinese money..

Actually it is money to be used to ransom out or free souls from the hell realms and hungry ghost realms.. so more of a help to ancestors and dead relatives and poor beings rather than using for oneself to enter into Heaven.
