Is this a sign of growing up? (She turned 1 about 3 months ago)

As far as I know, we give the cat enough affection, as a matter of fact, she dominates the entire household...

i had my cat for a year and a half and she was fine and dandy when we put her in different situation i.e. we let her roam outside in our house until we moved and she became stuck inside.. she was happy.. but then we brought in our second cat and for almost 3 months she had stopped purring.. so we figured it was becuase she wan't happy about sharing everything she had known to be hers with him.. after she got used to having him around and having someone else to boss around she started purring again..

maybe your cat isn't happy about something.. cats don't like change.. has anything happened in your household that would make ur cat feel uncomfortable?

This is not a sign of growing up. While a cat can become depressed and stop purring even a depressed cat will purr when happy. My moms cat has a depression disorder and still purrs every day. Sudden behavior changes in cats indicate something is VERY wrong. If there are no obvious signs of disease... there is likely something to be found in bloodwork.

Our cat stopped purring, and she nearly died from an internal parasite infection. She spent 4 days in the hospital as a kitten.

I strongly URGE you to call your vet and get an immediate appointment, or you may loose her.

My beloved cat Bobby stopped purring the last week of his life cause he was very, very ill. I would take her in for a check up to make sure there is no health reason. I have a cat Purrcella who purred more when she was a kitten but she still purrs now just not as much.

Cats purr all their lives... Are you sure shes happy? Cats are very intelligent creatures and sometimes they get depressed. Make sure you make an extra effort petting and playing with her. Also, is your cat "fixed"? If not, it could be that shes going through heat.
