I don't think blacks have more muscle mass per se.
there are subtle medical differences between people of differing heritage. blacks are more prone to sickle cell anemia. certain jewish people are more prone to cystic fibrosis. innuit people's hands behave opposite most other people's hands when immersed in cold water (that is, they don't get numb and more blood actually flows to them).
here is what your doctor may have been talking about:
there are two types of muscle fiber. fast twitch and slow twitch. fast twitch muscle fiber produces strength and explosive power when it flexes. it tires more quickly and must be used frequently to be maintained. slow twitch muscle fiber does not produce as much power but it is high endurance and maintains its state for longer periods of time. medically speaking, blacks possess a higher proportion of fast twitch muscle fibers compared to slow twitch muscle fibers. whites, conversely tend to have more slow twitch fibers.
