If it hurts deep inside your vagina when you have sex, especially if the pain is very intense, there may be something else going on. Painful intercourse, even the first time, can be a sign of infection or an other medical condition. More often, it can be a way for your vagina to say “no” to intercourse by refusing to relax and allow penetration. You may not be ready for intercourse or you may need to learn more about what feels good to you. If you consistently experience pain during intercourse, talk to your doctor

yes it can but it depends on a number of things. firstly you need to be ready. many people think that they are when they are not and therefore are not relaxed when the time comes. you also need to be with someone that you feel comfortable with, who will be gentle with you and also who preferably knows its your first time. lubrication will help with penetration as will exploring your own body. sex hurting the first time is an individual thing, however, once the first time is over it will not hurt anymore. make sure you are ready and it will be an enjoyable experience

I heard from a couple of my friends that it hurt for them, but it didn't for me. In fact, I was counting on it hurting and it didn't. But I'm sure the more tense you are the more it would hurt. Lubrication would also help.
