I have two kitties, and they share a food bowl, I don't have a problem with that, I'm just wondering would they eat out of seperate food dishes if presented the option, or will they not consider the fact and just eat out of either?

They would switch back and forth....same with litter boxes and anything else! Each cat thinks everything in their "domain" belongs to them. So therefore they will use everything how ever they choose to.

They will probably just eat out of whichever bowl they happen to be near. They may eat out of their own bowls when you place the food down and then do what mine do... switch bowls or go to the other bowl when one is done to see if there is anything good left.
If your cats are both eating the same thing, I see no reason to have separate dishes.

They won't without training. Some of it depends on your cat's attitudes toward each other too. But I'm sure you could train them to eat out of seperate bowls as long as you make sure they both remain fed, if you forget to feed one he'll venture to the other's bowl and you'll probably lose all progress.

They eat their hard food out of the same bowl, but they eat their soft food separately, and sometimes one will push the other out of the way and try to eat his food. Sometimes they will switch bowls, ust to see if they are getting something different.

Your cats should be able to eat out any bowl. they may or may not be dominant about one particular bowl. most cats just know where a food bowl is and go to the nearest one if they are hungry.

They may and then they may not. My two cats will eat out of separate bowls, and they will eat out of the same one at the same time. They don't really care.

We have two cats and put out two bowls of dry cat food and two plates of canned cat food for them. They usually eat out of which ever bowl or plate strikes their fancy at the moment. After their first few days together, they haven't eaten out of the same bowl or plate at the same time(that we know of)!

I tried getting my 3 cats to eat out of separate bowls and it never worked. They ate out of whichever one they felt like!

Cats eat whatever tastes good to them. So it depends on what you have in each bowl.

well, I guess it depends on their personalities... we have 5 cats and 3 different bowls and they eat out of different bowls.
