This is not a breed...please don't be confused there. You simply have a cat with a condition called polydactyl. It just means extra toes. Cats with this condition were given the nick-name Hemingway cat...because Ernest Hemingway used to have a polydactyl cat. It's a mutation. Slapping on the fancy name is just another way for irresposible breeders to be able to jack the price up on the cat and make like they have something rare and exotic. They sell the cats as rare exotics to unsuspecting people who are not educated on the subject. As cute as extra toes may be...to deliberately breed cats with this condition just to create more cats with this condition is simply bad and irresponsible breeding. You'll see cats of all breeds...purebred as well as mixed...have this condition, but for some reason it's seen more in Maine Coons and other breeds that throw tabby variations. It's mostly seen in male cats. It's not uncommon. I work with animals every day and I see this all the time.

Yes i had a hemingway cat. he had 6 toes on each foot! it looked really strange. he had massive paws. I have seen pple on lists to get kittens from a hemingway cat breeder at teh flea market. ...guess they are in high demand (also, i dont know if I would officially call this a BREED. more like a maverick gene)

You mean a polydactyl cat? We have some that come into the clinic with extra toes on all 4 paws. I think it's cute..
The Hemmingway cats are popular eh? I think I saw a show on Tv bout them

It is not a breed. Just an expression of a certain gene.
I have one with 8 toes on each front paw and 6 on each rear.

My cat is a mix, I got her for 10 bucks, but she has seven toes on one hand, on the other six but right below her sixth toe is just a nail.

I do not, but I actually just read an article today about how his estate is crawling with about 50 cats like that and how people are trying to capture them.

tremendous question. I many times ask your self an identical element with one among my cats. each and every in certain situations i will discover that he's gazing an previous spiderweb putting down it really is difficult to verify. different situations I even do no longer recognize what he ought to correctly be gazing and for therefore long.
