Meditation takes you to a level of inner peace where you may FEEL like you are levitating. There are NO LEVELS. Your friend is full of crap. True mediatation is when you are able to be still in mind and body and let thoughts pass in and out with no judgement or time spent. Educate your friend, please.

I'm not sure about the black bible thing but I have and do meditate daily.

Your friend seems more interested in the supernatural powers of meditation than the spiritual benefits of it. There is a story about the Buddha and a yogi who had worked all his life meditating to gain the power to walk on water. When the Buddha learned this he said, why would anyone work so hard to learn such a skill when he could for a few coins take the ferry?

The point is there are more important aspects to meditation than power. Power is just an secondary effect. The point of meditation is to center and calm the mind so that the practitioner can sense reality for what it is, hence become enlightened, which manifests in many ways including compassion towards others.

If you really want to learn to meditate start with your breath. Clear your mind of thoughts. As they come up acknowledge them then let them go like passing clouds. Keep drawing your attention back to your breath. You will naturally breath deeper, feel calmer, and be more aware of your surroundings. If you truly desire to know more feel free to contact me. Best of wishes on your Journey back to the light.

Have no idea about the bible stuff :P

Meditation is about reducing the thoughts in the mind, so that you can focus more easily on things, when you need to. Thinking to much can be distracting and cause unhealthy things like insomnia.

The closest thing to out of body experience you get, is what happens when you start to see your own thoughts as seperate from you, and in doing that you can observe your own thinking process and reduce the thoughts that are not healthy. In this way you start to see the behavior of you, see yourself interact with other people and things, and the thoughts that go through your mind when you do, with out interrupting or disturbing yourself.
