My outside cat had kittens about 4 months ago. She was a perfect mother to them and everything. But as of lately she wants nothing to do with them. She will hiss at them if they try to come near her. I'm not sure whats wrong with her. Could she be pregnant again? Or just territorial now?

She is simply telling them it is time for them to go out and make it on their own. Four months is too old for them to still be with their mother. You really should consider getting her spayed. Do you know that one female cat can produce over 45 kittens a year? And one male cat can produce THOUSANDS each year. If you calculate half of her babies as females and then figure each of them can produce 45 babies each year... that is another one thousand kittens and if half of them are females that would multiply into over twenty thousand kittens! Half of those being female turns into over half a million cats!!!And so on and so on. There is already a serious issue with feline overpopulation. Do consider not adding to it.

I do hope that your kitty and her babies are all healthy and happy!

Once the kittens are two months old she will want nothing to do with them unless she was a kitten when she had them (this happen in the case of my cat's mother and her daughter, her mother was young enough to be her sister, so that is what they became until she passed away from leukemia). Your cat may also be pregnant again and in that cases she will reject the last set of kittens to make way for the new set of kittens.

She is pushing them out of the nest. Get her spayed before she has another litter. And find homes for the kittens before they start having kittens too.

This is perfectly normal. She is trying to ween them from trying to nurse her. they are big enough to be eating kitten food and she is getting rid of her milk and soon won't be able to produce anymore. This is common, she will hiss at them to get them to become indepentent.

Stop being an irresponsible pet parent and have the cat spayed immediately.

She's probably trying to wean them if she hasn't already. They are old enough to be on their own, so the mother is trying to scare them away from her so they will not be dependent on her anymore.

All animals become this way. Dogs do it with their puppies. Hamsters with their babies and so on. They no longer feel as though they need to take care of their "children" and treat them as equals----like adults basically.

She is trying to get rid of them, she is tired of them and ready forthem to leave her, animals are not like humans in that sense
