The most people killed under any one religion is under Islam.
They have been killing everyone who came in their way for the last 1400 years.
Even in christianity, massive numbers of people have been killed but at least there are records kept. The crusades and the Holocaust.
But islam has been a nomadic religion without much attention to record keeping which has diminished their atrocities to the human species.
I would like to give you examples of just very recent numbers and then you can go back 1400 years and do some math.
In the last 60 years, there has been recorded genocides in India.
In 1947, when India got independance from the British, Pakistan was created by force by the muslims. At this time, they slaughtered over one million people. This is just the ones recorded. Trains full were sent with bodies that had no legs, hands or heads from Pakistan to India.
Then in 1971, genocide happened again and Pakistan started attacking Bangladesh, the other side of India, which was also divided at Independence. Over three million people were killed and buried in mass graves.
Then Kashmir. The north part of India. Pakistan has been using terror in this region, infiltrating the area, attacking the hindus during the night, killing them or chasing them out of their homes.
There are no records of numbers.
The attacks carry on everyday within indian society and because of its massive population and lack of an infra structure, records are not kept of the attacks by muslims.
This is just one part of the world.
In 1971, a muslim ruler took over one little country of Africa, Uganda, where massive murders took place. The man went free.
Now in Sudan. Christians and muslims fighting.
Then the middle east.
Just in recent years this is the kind of violence a religion is getting away with.
So dont believe these people who come and tell you how peaceful they are and how democratic etc., because they are lying to you.
Once they will be in majority, or some kind of strength, you can rest assured they will come in the night and kill you.
Of course religion is about peace, but which religion?
My religion teaches only non violence and equal rights.
We do not attack anyone. We do not steal from anyone and we do not rape other people's women.
I hope someone will punish these muslims who have destroyed my home and my country and raped my family.
I am very proud to be a hindu.

There should have been 11 Commandments. The last one being Do As I Say, Not As I Do. And you are right. Religion has caused more suffering than anything else in mankind's history. When I see or hear a person talking about religion I immediately walk the other way. They are either nut cases or serious trouble.

Hmmm.. and where did you get your facts? I would like to see the statistics compiled about how many people were killed by religious wars... and by political wars... and just how do you decide what kind of war it is? Do you decide that it must be a religious war because one country is predominantly Christian and the other country is Togolappal?...
or do you look behind the war and see Satan at work.. on both sides... feeding the corruption... feeding the hate and anger... any way he possibly can.

Though your basic assumption is closer to reality...some of the later bit is juvinile!
Identity is one of the factors exploited in conflict. Interest is another. There are so many other factors.
The problem with religion is that it sort of numbs the intellect and conscience down so that you no longer have objective judgement. You are more likely to stick to wrong because it is part of your faith.
But unfaith may also lead you to a lot of confusion and loss of enthusiasm because there is no will and all options are equally value neutral. You may become an astute critic but you may lose will to do anything. One needs faith in something... even reason... that reason will set as free is essentially a faith!

fist of all... if the people are truely religous, then they wouldnt be killing anybody would they?
people use religion as an excuse... and that dear, is a world wide issue.
it is greed and power... there will be many to go before god and say look at all i have done for you and god will say go away i know you not.. meaning you did not do that for me... you did that to glorify you... and i am pretty sure all religions will go before a god who will say the same thing...
if religions teach peace, then why are people killing thier own people in any country?
it isnt religion that kills... it isnt religion that starts wars.... its people... and greed... and lust for power

Lots of things lead to war.
Honestly? I think it boils down to stupidity, ego, and human nature. Not just religion, religion is a reason to start a war not the cause... PEOPLE are the cause of the wars. Human stupidity is what the true cause is. Religion is just another excuse to 'justify' it.

You're right, religion is dangerous.
That is why everyone should become an atheist, which is not recognized as a religion by the U.S. Government.
When is the last time somebody blew something up in the name of atheism?
Never.
There is no such thing as god(s), and that's O.K.

Well you got a great point. War is often caused from religious differences. Man is progressing, hopefully we can learn to get past this before the earth is wiped out.

I don't know what you are getting at and I really don't feel like reading your ignorant post... so I will just answer your question... Most human deaths are not caused by religious war or hatred... you should know what you are talking about before you post a stupid question and look like an idiot...
