I sometimes add a bit more applesauce, just for the moisture content. I don't know where you are but here in Buffalo it's hot as hell and I doubt anyone is baking a cake--lowfat or otherwise! We even have ac and I wouldn't turn on the oven.

I will also sometimes sub half the oil with the applesauce, then it's lighter but still has the nice texture. Good luck!

Yes you can sub the same amount of applesauce for the oil called for in a recipe.
It will make it very moist and cut out the fat content. The consistency may be "alittle" different than with using the oil, but it will taste just as good!!

you dont substitute apple sauce for oil, there are basic componeents to a cake, you need to replace the apple sauce with whatver liquid is in the cake, ie milk, water

Why do you want to substitue apple sauce for vegetable oil? Why don't you use olive oil - it is better for you and you can't tell it's not butter or vegetable oil!@

i don't think you should substitute apple sauce for vegetable oil....because surely the recepie already includes butter or something like that and using vegtable oil would make it greasy and less tasty
