that's totally normal, you will hear a buzzing vibration in your head for at least 2 or 3 weeks. headaches and nausea disorientation etc are common, I know from experience.

I was on Effexor for a few years. I had to be tapered off of it too or else I would end up with severe withdrawals like a drug addict would do when coming off of their drugs. Being dizzy is just a withdrawal symptom and will go away. When my doctor tapered me off of it, she had me get down to the smallest dose every day, then would have me take one pill every couple days, then every three days, etc, until I got to where I was having one a week, then she had me stop taking it. Is this how your doctor is doing this? If so, your body is just adjusting to not having it for that day and the dizziness will pass.

I was on effexor for over a year then effexor xr for almost 2 and the dizziness is part of the withdrawl. I stayed on my couch except to go to the bathroom for 2 weeks,I stopped on my own which wasn't the smartest thing to do. It has been 8 months now and I feel great but I remember the withdrawl, wean slowly and I wish you the very best of luck Effexor is some nasty stuff.

I don't remember having any problems getting off Effexor XR, but I was weened of it over at least a month. I think I was taking 150 mg a day or twice a day. I can't remember cuz I've been on so much **** before and since then. Just remember to report everything that happens to your doctor. Like others said, you don't wanna end up in the hospital because you're taken off it too quickly.

Yeah this is normal. What I do not understand is why you are being taken off of it. Are you going to use a new medication or are you doing much better to where you are trying to go it alone? If after a few days or a week or so, you are not feeling up to par, then you need to call your doctor and let him/her know the side effects of the withdrawals you are experiencing. You could always call a pharmacist and speak to them about your symptoms to know for sure that those are normal. I have been taken of medication before and I had withdrawals and felt worse, so the doctor thought I really needed the medication and gave me another type. I don't know if that was necessary or not.

I'm sure it is. I know someone else who had dizziness from Effexor as well, and it went away once the Effexor was gone from his system. You'll be all right.

I went off of Effexor for four days and landed myself in the hospital. It was a nightmare. It's hard to get off, it's some strong stuff. You need to make sure you come off VERY slowly. 2 weeks doesn't sound very slow...
BTW, I'm back on it.. too scared to come off now.

I know when I was being taken off of it , I also got dizzy as the dosage got lower. Especially when I completely stopped taking it. My Dr. said this is normal, but I was so dizzy he agreed to extend the time of the weening process. After 1 month, I was finally off of it. Good luck.

Yes, it will get better but you will probably have weird symptoms for about a month. Sometimes it will seem a little scary, but don't worry you'll be fine. Just let your doc know if the lightheadedness is too much to bear.

Effexor is very difficult to get off of. Expect to feel strange for a while.
