i'd say take it to the vet. People should really stop trying to help there pets on thier own!

Are you sure it is a bruise? Where on the beak is it located? The cere (openings where the beak meets the face - sorta like a nose) of a male parakeet will turn blue as it reaches maturity....at about 6 months of age if I remember correctly. If it is anywhere else, you should get it to a vet. Birds are good at hiding it when they are sick until it is too late to help them.

how young is your parakeet? budgie?
if it is younger than 5 wks it may be just the markings of a young bird. this colouration is a blackish brown at the base of the beak, not the tip. That is normal, so u need to find out theage of your budgie ok. if older see your vet.

it's a bruise like on a human.it will heal.
