Vet Assistants or receptionist only please?

Question

Before you got your jobs did you have any experience prior to starting?
I am taking online courses for assisting,
but am wondering how many got thier foot in the door with no prior experience
and what state are you working in?

Yes. I am a vet tech and did work at a vet clinic for a while before I went to tech school.

Hi There

Im from QLD in Australia.

I am now a legal secretary it took me on a while to get this far.

First of all I started as a boring office junior in a plant place for 8 months then i went and did my business certificate III in administration which can be done at any tafe or business college [this only takes about 1-2 months full time. That then got me into a law firm as a junior receptionist i worked there for 6 months and left. I now have a job as a legal secretary / personal assistant for a partner in our law firm.

I think the best thing to get is some kind off business certificate it doesnt have to be done in university though.

Sorry - not an assistant, but considered it and checked into it a bit.

Volunteer to work with animals at a vet or a zoo. The experience will help. I understand some people don't want to volunteer to work for no pay - but consider the experience as your pay. It's worth it if you want this bad enough.

I was a receptionist for many doctor's offices. I didn't have experience when I got my first job - I was trained on the job and I was told I had a nice soft voice that made people feel welcome calling. I live in OH. But I had these jobs in KY. OH I just worked as medical biller.
