The Military does accept GED's on a case by case basis, usually depending on quotas and your ASVAB score. Talk to your local recruiter.

This is from the army.com website and it states high school or equivalent that mean GED, also my little brother has talked to a recruiter and they will or some that is will even help you arrange to take your GED test because he hasn't took his test yet and they stated they can help him arrange to take his test. I suppose it is a case by case thing though. The answer is they do accept GED's. The Army anyways. Hope it helps if not they probley have information on their website to better assist you.

Requirements
Before you talk to a recruiter, be sure you meet the minimum qualifications for serving in the U.S. Army. Qualifications are:

You must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien.
You must be at least 17 years old (17-year old applicants require parental consent).
You must be between the ages of 17 - 34.
You must have a high school diploma (or equivalent).
You must pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test.
You must pass a physical medical exam.
You must have no more than two dependents.

When this country is not at war, they don't need as many people to fill quotas....Therefore you will need to have a high school diploma...If not, a GED alone will not be enough...they want at least a GED + at least 1 college course...

Now, when we are at war or conflict....they drop the GED to get more people to fill quotas...If they don't get enough people they go through drastic measures such as raise the age of entry from 37 to 42 years old.

They will, they are just only allowed so many GED canidates a year per service. If this year is closed to GED canidates, just wait until October when the new recruiting year starts.

This was not true when I was in. Although I've been out 4 1/2 years now and much has changed.

It is very unlikely to be able to join the military if you have a GED.
