A lot of people get drunk and say cr@p they don't mean. Just because he said the "J" word he gets publicly crucified! When are the Jews going to lighten up?

If I had a buck for every racial slur I've heard regarding my Irish lineage.. I could afford to be a Jew!

Don't get me wrong, I am Mr. Gibson's biggest fan.
I just can't understand why we waste news time on this crud instead of the Lebonese children being killed by Israeli/American bombs.

I support Mel Gibson as a Catholic and a fellow human being. Everyone makes mistakes and alcohol tends to help you make even bigger mistakes.

He should've known better! Sure a lot of people get drunk and say things they don't mean but those people aren't in the public light and make a movie not long ago that was criticized as having anti-Semitic themes, whether or not it did. His father has also said some pretty nasty anti-Semitic things while sober so it is quite possible that Mel has always felt this way and way raised this way but it hadn't come out until he was drunk and in trouble. He's the responsible party, he's doing the right thing by apologizing and owning up to it.

Well since were Irish I understand why the world would hate us. But Jews?
(It is fortunate that the Irish made whiskey or the world would be speaking Gaelic!)
Could any of us endure the scrutiny that Mel endures?
Strange that bill C. can say I'm sorry and he is forgive by the world and hailed as great for the use of those 2 words (I think he said them), but Mel all but prostates him self in his regret and he still need to be nailed to some cross.

I've always liked Mel Gibson, especially when he stood against the tide of Hollywood and made The Passion.
But, I'm pretty sure that if I were Jewish, his remarks would have insulted me also!
My past experience with alcohol, you speak how you really feel.
It's unfortunate! I wish it would've been someone that I don't like!

He's a drunk. he always has been. He needs ran out of the country, not just put on the News. He is a drunk looser.
The story of Jews made him millions.
See. What happens when you use God's name for advantage and self gain? :)

I think Mel Gibson makes enough money to support himself.
Money does not wash away bigotry. I have always enjoyed hhis movies, but now I have to look at them in a different light .....

Nobody should support the things he said, either the insults to the police or the racist comments about the Jewish people.
But, for God's sake, he was drunk! Since when do we pay attention to what drunks say?

Well, he should certainly be held accountable for what he said. It was definitely more than just the "J" word. However, I do think they went overboard. Being drunk is no excuse for your actions. I'm sure he wasn't tricked into getting drunk, therefore he has to held accountable.

he didn't just say the J word, he accused the jews of being the cause of all the wars in the world. and no matter how drunk i've been, i don't say things that i don't mean. drinking loosens the tongue and lowers inhibitions. he said what he really feels.
