No, the problem isn't over population. There are a couple of states in the USA who could produce enough food to feed every person in the whole world. However, the places that do have issues with hunger and disease are usually the same places with corrupt governments. Even when richer countries send food to these countries, the governments don't distribute the food to those that need it. The issue isn't over population, it is corrupt and evil governments who keep their people poor, uneducated, and dependant.

it depends on what you mean by overpopulation
that generally means, more other people than I want around
some studies based on the amount of energy that hits the earth from the sun, estimate that the earth could easily sustain a population or 40 billion people
many people would not like some of the aesthetics of an earth with 40 billion people
in the end, it is largely a matter of opinion and values
your opinion might be different if you were the 40 billionth person, or maybe not

No, the world is not over-populated, large numbers are not the problem. Its governing all these people that people seem to have trouble with. The world can take on a billion more people in and of itself, the problem is feeding, and providing for the large number of people we have, while still maintaining wealth and well being for all of them. No government is successful as far as being fit for all people of the world. No new world order would change this fact. The world is simply too small for the kind of wealth that can be attained in it. But the earth is not too small, and its not shrinking.

actually its over 6.5 Billion
The United Nations warned that a sustainable population should be about 5 Billion - many scientiests think 500 Million would be a better number
We are already seeing the effects of over population - global warming, acid rain, overfishing in the oceans, deforestation, housing shortages, skyrocketing gas prices, increase stress in day to day life, rapid spreading of disease, etc
I beleive that the problem is in part due to birth rates but also due to humans living longer so since we are not dying off as fast the population rate grows quicker - it is estimated that within 100 years unless we control population growth there will have to be manditory death sentences for people who reach a certain age (eg all people over 50 will be exterminated)
movies like LOGANS RUN or SOLIENT GREEN are warnings of the future if we dont smarten up now....
very soon there will be such strains on houseing and how it consumes farm land that there will be a shortage of farm land per each person it will be horrific - PLUS the soil will be so depleated of nutrients that it cannot produce the food like it does now
so ya we are already over populated - I only had 1 kid then got my tubes tied

The world is still resourceful. If we all take as little as we need to survive from the nature, then over population will not be a problem. Therefore the need of the moment is creating awareness to deal with the nature properly and not wondering about overpopulation.

The world could comfortably hold 50 Billion people if we all got along. There is enough space for them, but greediness on the part of some will not allow it. There is enough land to plant food and maintain the animals necessary to sustain life. Greediness of some will prevent this.

We're there. It wouldn't be so bad if no one had more than two or three kids, but some won't stop at that. The more people there are,the more the quality of our lives decreases. When we run out of resources, then what?No one wants to give up their plastic lifestyle, but so many people reproduce at the speed of light.I have two children, but they are more than ten years apart. When people have them less than a year apart, and keep going,it's scary.

>>>>>>soon some of us will have to be thrown in the water and hope to grow gills, but it that happenes, the water level will rise some and then the cities will be messed up on the coast of...........everywhere. yet if we dont do that the continents will continue to sink and then we will literally rub elbows and heads. and if none of those work we will have to turn to sacraficing people and most will be pissed and depressed.
just to say it in simpler forms.... we're ****** if we dont fix this now. some might say it's already to late. remember, there is a limit to everything here.
