She is a four month old doberman border collie mix and she ate like three or four of my remaining grapes in my bowl. She normally doesn't bother my food but she did this time when I walked away. What should I do for her? Will she be really sick? I read somewhere that she could die soon or get kidney failure, is this true? Help me, please! She is laying by the door and she is whining but I am afraid that if I put her outside she will get worse because of the heat!

I am sure she will be okay just because she had only a few. Grapes are not good for dogs to eat and the seeds are definitely bad for them. Give her water and pay close attention to her. Also, if the puppy shows pain or sickness, contact your vet. Everything you read is possible but unlikely in your situation. Most of the times those sights say that no long term studies have been done to make any conclusions. I have a doberman mix as well and she loves eating things she shouldn't and she has never been sick. Just keep an eye on her. I am sure you are a good daddy to her. It is not your fault. She has a mind of her own.

I am not entirely sure about grapes - I know raisens are toxic (and those are dried grapes)..its hard to say - to be on the safe side - put her in the bath tub or outside and give her a tablespoon of peroxide. She will throw up in a fairly short amount of time. If she is taking longer than 10 minutes, give her a bit more. The peroxide will not hurt her (especially in small amounts) - just makes them sick to their stomach.

Better to make her vomit than be sorry. She didn't eat a lot of them - but this is the best advice I can give you - I think most clinics are closed now - but you could try calling and ask what they suggest.

I have done this for my dog when he ate chocolate...worked like a charm!

Dogs should have NO type of grape or raisens. Give her a teaspoon or table salt and a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide and this will cause the puppy to throw up. A couple grapes shouldn't hurt the dog. Hope they were seedless because if not, the seeds can cause terrible bowel problems because they adhere to the bowel and cause terrible pain.

Hello, I have just heard that grapes like raisins are toxic for dogs. now don't worry because it won't always kill the animal. If he does start vomiting though take him STRAIGHT TO THE VET!!!! I also heard that one poor dog ate a grape and they put him down, but those cases are really rare, so please like the other folk, watch your dog for any signs of vomiting or sickness. P.S I love golden retriever/austrailian shepherd puppies, they are so CUTE!!!! Bestb of wishes

Did your grapes even have seeds in them? Its not the grape to be concerned about, it is the seeds that can cause a problem...

It depends on how many she ate, how big she is and how potent your grape seeds might be...

If you are at all concerned - consult your vet! Many clinics have after hours emergency numbers where vets can be consulted.

Some seeds (grapes, apples, peach pits, etc) can be poisonous to your friend. It may be as innocuous as causing loose stools and as serious as causing organ failure.

Just a few grapes shouldn't hurt her. A whole LOT might hurt her (read article below) but 3 or 4 shouldn't matter. Just keep an eye on her anyway, just in case. Good luck!

I dont' feed my dog grapes as a meal or anything but if I am eating them I will give her one or two, no more since I know they are not real good for her and she has never been sick from it. Just let her outside.

I wouldn't think so I have seen doberman's eat whole rawhide toys without chewing them and poop out the whole rawhide bone. A few grape seeds wouldn't concern me. Dogs manufacture their own Vitamin C and don't require any fruits.

I don't think grapes will hurt the dog. Atleast you didn't feed her blue playdough and 15 minutes later saw a big blue puddle of vomit in the floor and a blue poop ball like I did. Sorry.

A few probably won't do anything worse than give her the runs. Might want to reconsider letting her go outside if she wants to. You can also call your local after-hours clinic and ask the staff there if you need to worry. They can tell you what symptoms to look for if it were to be a problem.
