they don't that is all set by you and what u portrayed it as. if you said we are going to hang out and ride bikes and get a cone she had a choice to say yes or no.Most of the time a guy asks you out and you go somewhere to sit and talk where your at least served. i would not have call back either if you did not set the right expectations

She just did not have fun which is why she did not want a second date and probably, she already had doubts going out with you in the first place.
If a girl really likes you, it does not matter where you go and she might even overlook stupid things just because she is just soooo into you.
But if she has reservations, then that's the time that you need to step up and find ways to make sure that she will be impressed, that is exactly why girls try to hide their crushes so the guy would still put their best foot forward.
