Sometimes cats mark in the house when they have a bladder infection, or something else is bothering them and they are trying to show you. I would suggest taking him to a vet for a quick checkup and urinalysis to rule out any health problem.

I have had this problem with my cats wanting to run away as well. I didn't want them outside, but they were so crafty that they kept getting out. I eventually just let them go, as I noticed when they were outside they only stayed in my yard and didn't wander. Maybe having your cat outside (depending on where you live) wouldn't be so bad if it were only sometimes.

Have you considered letting him out on a leash (supervised only) or building a small pen outside that he can spend time in? It sounds to me that he is just frustrated inside and wants to play outside. Good luck!

I have this same problem with my female cat. After several attempts at trying to wrestle her to keep her inside, I finally gave up. I am worried about her getting hurt or getting fleas, but other than that this is our compromise. I let her out when she does manage to get out and she has always come back (so far!) It's utterly useless trying to control a cat, because no one can tell them what to do :)

My sister had a neutered male and her female, unspayed cat went into head and the male did try to "please" the female. I have never heard of a neutered male trying to break down a door, but I have heard of them marking. How old was he when fixed? If he was older than 6 months, he will still spray and get "urges". You may need to talk to your vet about the behavior. My suggestion would be to keep him in one room to avoid him spraying your entire house.

My cat is about 8 and a half years old and she was doing things she had never done before, like attacking people for no reason and knocking her water bowl!!! I made sure she was getting her vitamins and I noticed she wasn't and we were giving her too much treats, so I cut back on the treats and made sure she had her vitamins and she stopped her behavior in a couple weeks...........hope it works for you!!!
