Credit repair is a waste of time and money. You can get a copy of your credit report for free on the web and clear up any errors on your own.
As for getting bad ratings 'fixed' there is no mystery; if a bad (but correctly so) rating is challenged, the creditor may upgrade the rating while investigating it, but will reinstate the bad rating after the investigation.
Save your $250-$500 and use it to help yourself get out of debt.

Be extremely careful if you decide to use a credit repair service. Many people have ended up in far worse shape than they were before they used them.
I agree with the other posters, save your money and learn how to handle your own credit repair.
Check out the site I've listed. It is a "free" do it yourself credit repair site. Start doing some reading in the newbie forum and then in the credit forum. After you have done some reading in the newbie forum and have any questions, feel free to post them in the credit forum.
Never pay a website for information that you can get for free.

There is nothing they can do legally that you can't do yourself without the fee. Get a copy of your report from each of the credit bureaus. If there is inaccurate information, dispute it. The report will tell you how to do so. Accurate information can't be removed. Most 'credit repair' companies just dispute everything negative and hope it will go away.

No, they don't. Bad credit cannot be repaired, but a reputable, non-profit credit counseling servcie can often negotiate better payments or terms with the creditor. See below or look in your phone directory.

Depend how bad your credit is, they pretty much tell them to send you the report of the credit, and they dispute they errors, if they collectors doesn't report within 30 days, that error gets clear, its a 50/50 chance. But if they send the report on the errors, there is nothing they can do.
