There is nothing wrong with using proper English. But when young people (or even older people) hang out with friends the proper english is just too formal. There is a time and a place to use proper English, ie-work, school, job interviews, People you are meeting for the first time. But when you hang out with your friends or family, it is a time to relax, and use slang.
When you write, like on here or emails, etc, its sometimes ok to abbreviate and use slang but MY GOD! make it readable and understandable! you can't read half of what people write!

Nothing's wrong with using "proper" English, but it's also wrong to criticize people for the way they speak. All dialects of English are good for communication. The value we assign to them is a reflection of how we feel about the people who use them. In other words, if we think that a particular dialect is good or bad, that's a reflection of our prejudice against the group or person who uses that dialect. I don't like prejudice, and I suspect you don't either.
I think that everyone has a right to express him/herself and communicate. If we claim that only people who follow the rule books have the right to communicate, we have attempted to disempower a lot of people. I think that's wrong.
Also, the "rules" are quite arbitrary. They were mostly invented in the 1700s and were intended to prevent lots of things that English speakers had been doing for hundreds of years already. Do a search on the term "history of prescriptivism" and you'll learn about what I mean.

Nothing is wrong with "proper" English. It's just that there ain't nobody who talks or writes in no more. The reasons are called "the dumbing down of the society" caused basically by all of the visual entertainment and the lack of high-quality schooling.

I am going to assume you are talking about the use of Standard American English. As with most pop culture, using proper English is looked upon as not cool. One example can be found in popular music, where it is cool to slash words and make something new of them. This isn't bad as long as it doesn't take the place of proper English. Take pride in your use of proper English.

People are too lazy to use proper English. It requires some thought and people are in bad habits. Sometimes improper English serves a particular social purpose, such as bonding, i.e., the fact that two people speak improper English to each other binds them together as a member of particular group, distinguishing them from "ordinary" people. Conversely, using proper English marks you as a member of a group someone may not want to associate with, e.g. upper class people, "the man", authority, etc.
