Usually or at least in olden times, it would be the male whether he was your friend or not.
But since I am a woman and if you are, I would probably greet his girlfriend first. I don't know, just to make her feel comfortable I guess and let her know that I'm not going to steal her man. lol!

Your friend gets greeted first because he is the one you know. Then, if you have already met his girl friend you greet her. If not, he should introduce her.

When I hang out with Dave and his girlfriend even though I know her I always say hi to him first. He and I are the ones that have an established relationship. Even when I date someone new I say hi to someone first then introduce to whom I am there with.Best of Luck!

Whomever you are acquainted with always goes first...it is their job to introduce. If you know them equally as well, ladies first or a general greeting to both of them is acceptable.

The girl at the store greeted my husband first, then after she talks to him for a little while, she says,"Oh, or you together?" Can you believe that?

Your friend, since you know him. He should introduce his girlfriend to you if this is the first time you have met her.

I always find this one hard.
The right thing to do is say hello to your friend first, then turn attention to his friend.
But I always wind up extending my hand to the person I know, and saying hello to the one I don't know, then speaking to my friend.

Your friend of course. He is your friend first and foremost. His girlfriend should understand that.
