I like it fried.

I cooked a really good okra from a recipe in Essence magazine years ago. It was great so I think I remember all of the ingredients.

It used fresh okra, so thaw yours out.

Okra
1 can of garbanza beans
1 small onion, diced
1 red pepper, chopped
Garlic, to taste, crushed

+++++ I can't remember the spice that was used, so use what you think will taste good+++++

Olive oil

Put everything in a pan and stir till it smells good.

Its good fried...season some flower with a little salt and pepper and any other seasonings you like then coat the okra pieces with it...pour about an inch or so of oil in a frying pan and drop the okra in there and fry until brown and crispy.

Fried okra is only good when it is used fresh. Dip in buttermilk then seasoned cornmeal, then fry in cast iron skillet til golden brown & crunchy. For frozen okra, use in a homemade veggie soup or spicy gumbo.....It will need a sauce so it doesn't taste dry. Enjoy!

my grandmother always put corn meal in a paper bag, put the slices in and shook the bag. Then, you fry it in an iron skillet till crispy. Boiled okra is just plain nasty!

Okra is good only when breaded and fried.... but stir fry is ok too, just not as good.
