The majority of people are against immigration because they asre just simply ignorant. For example, they think that there is no middle class in Mexico. They believe that living in Mexico is living in a cardboard home. They think that ALL mexicans just cant wait to migrate to the U.S. because they think american culture is better. They believe that Mexico is so dependable on the U.S. that if it wasnt for them Mexico wouldnt exist. They believe that English Only is better than being BI-Lingual. Ultimately, this is obvious ignorance. Ignorance = Racism.
Not Racism? Then Why are the vigilantes so-called minutemen "securing" the borders against terrorists if no suspect has ever been aprehended at the mexican border. Canada? Youll be surprised how many. We all know that 9/11 highjackers came here through visas or through Canada.
P.S. By the way chicano culture is as bad if not worse. They dislike Mexicans however white americans don't recognize them either. Anglos believe that is what Mexicans are like when reality is totally different.

The U.S. border is a separation of countries. The border is put in place to keep the wrong people out. We, "Americans", have to keep out criminals trying to flee from one country and heading into ours. If they apply to get a green card through the proper channels it would prevent the criminals from getting in the U.S..
This is nothing against the Mexican people. They have a great history and family values. This is about a law of immigration. If the numbers are not controlled, then it will cause economic stress that will be felt from the poor all the way up to the rich.

I'm from Texas. Most of the people I know are Mexican. It's not immigration people have a problem with. It's ILLEGAL immigration. Mexicans come to the US and steal someone else's social security number. Someone who is later charged taxes for their income. They also have put a horrible burden on the free healthcare system such as county hospitals and do not pay taxes. I do not want the Mexicans to have to leave, but I do not think they can continue to break our laws and steal social security numbers. Additionally, I don't want my children in schools consistently behind the rest of the nation's, because of the amount of resources put into ESL.

Some people feel that immigrants are taking jobs that Americans need, and that their health care needs are putting a greater burden on the Medicare/Medicaid system. Personally, I think that we all need to remember that unless you are pure Native America, then your family was an immigrant once, too. A little compassion, and a little less judgement is in order.

Here's why.......we can't afford another country living within our country NOT paying income taxes - our hospital (local) has already had to get rid of people because we are taking care of them for free. We HAVE to. I've explained it like this before....I am a responsible person. I had and planned both of my kids (although mostly grown now). However, if 12 MORE kids showed up at my door, I would NOT have been able to feed/clothe them. That is what the US is facing right now --- you need to think about this. I consider myself a humane person but we have people in the US suffering right now and no one to help. We CAN'T AFFORD THEM. They don't file income taxes so they KEEP their paychecks (100%). In order to work (illegal alien) they HAVE TO STEAL A PERSON'S IDENTITY. Did you know that???? I bet you didn't know a lot of this. I drive on the roads I HELPED pay for as do all other taxpayers --- they get a free ride and we suffer. We need our employees back at the hospital and if it gets any worse, we are going to be in BIG BIG TROUBLE. That is why. That's just a PART OF IT.

I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with immigration. I have a problem with people coming to our country illegally and remaining illegally.
I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with Mexicans. Why should I? As you say, they have a rich culture. I have a problem with you assuming that illegal immigration is about Mexicans. That makes you a racist. There are many, many Mexicans in Mexico, living there legally. There are many, many Mexicans in America, living there legally. There are many, many illegal immigrants who are not Mexicans.
Illegal immigration is not about Mexicans or any nationality. It's about legal immigration.

Americans embrace immigration. We built our nation on immigration. We do however get a little pissy when it comes to Illegal immigration. We get very upset when people are sneaking into our country even have the gonads to demand rights, and help. They are draining our school, hospitals and prison. They are costing us 68 billion dollar a year. That comes out of each one of our pockets. That offends me.......There is nothing wrong with our country. We only want people here that want to contribute to this nation and not just their wallets.

I think Americans have a "problem" with immigration because they don't want to evaluate their own situation. That is, a quagmire of a war in the Middle East, a comatosed Commander and Chief, and a virtually non existent manufacturing sector. It's easier to just make up issues then deal with real ones.

Most of us have no problems with Mexicans, we have a problem with people breaking our laws to immigrate in numbers far above the number of poor people we allow to come legally, thereby draining our funds for services we need for our own people.
When there are 12 to 20 million people who think their desire to have others pay for them to raise families is more important than the desire of the people funding the services to have decent education for their own children and a service surplus to rely on in thier own old age, they are not going to be making friends, regardless of how charming they are.
Those who are not doing that, we don't feel that way about. However, how would they feel about people who ruined their children's education by breaking into their children's schools in huge numbers and making those schools teach more children with funds they paid for? I don't think they would stand it for a minute. Look at Mexico's immigration laws.

What's wrong?
What's wrong is the fact ILLEGAL immigrants are here illegally. They broke the law to come to the US. In our system, breaking the law is called a crime, and people who do crime are called criminals.
Not many people are against Mexican people, their culture, or their family value. Many people welcome all people to come to this country and work LEGALLY, and many Mexicans do come here legally, work fairly, and benefit our society. Just because they are family oriented, it does not excuse them from breaking our laws and coming here illegally.
You seem to have forgotten, what people are against, are ILLEGAL aliens. Before lashing our an emotional statement like you did, you really need to sit back, and analyze the situation.
