whyaskdon has been hijacked.

Someone is asking terrible questions using whyaskdon as an identity.

Someone is trying to ruin the reputation of someone else because they don't like the answers he is giving.

Please lets all tell Yahoo Answers that this is unacceptable. I, myself, don't want to be a part of this anymore unless Yahoo Answers can give us some assurance that we are not going to get hijacked.

I have been reporting impersonation on these questions all night.

I don't think he's been hijacked so much as they are able to create the exact same username and use his pic. Why can people create accounts using the same username? This is unacceptable. There should be more security around protection of usernames/screen names.

If Yahoo! answers forced people to use only their real screen names (isn't that a contradiction in terms lol), rather than letting you choose a new one just for Answers, this wouldn't be happening. It's too easy to just change one character and steal someone's pic to pose as that person.

You can usually tell the imposters though by looking at the Answers profile. For example, the real whynotaskDon is a high-level user with a crapload of points, while the imposter, whynotaskdon has fewer than 100 points currently.

um who ISN'T aware by now? look at all the E clones too...... (well actually i haven't seen many of them recently - what's the deal there?)

but yes, i've seen the don impostor. he's a bigot, just report him and ignore what he says

=edit=

to "up.tobat": this hijacking takes place when someone takes a username very similar to one already used by a respected member, eg from "edna bambrick" to all the others such as "edna crackbrick" etc.

problems really start to arise when the impostor isn't *obviously* a fake, or when there's only one or two and people can't tell.....

How did someone find out that an I D was hijacked? How could that happen? If someone already has an I D then how could someone else sign on with it,plus theres` the password.
If this can happen then we`re all in trouble.I don`t find that amusing.

You do realize of course there accounts (most likely) ARE NOT being hacked right? It isn't that hard to change your profile or display name by going into my Q and A and clicking on the "my profile link", people also don't seem to realize that most of the people who have had their account "hacked" were not using avatars, they were using REAL pictures of themselves or friends, its not that hard to right click on a picture, and click save as, then use that as your display picture.

If you don't want your picture spammed, don't post it, its that simple.

P.S. Most people find that questions like this, posted under the wrong category are more annoying.

It's not being "hijacked"

it's impersonation.

All it really takes to spot an imposter is to click on their name, and it will show how many questions / answers are from them. Chance as, if they are an imposter, it is REALLY easy to notice.

All they do is change their picture and username to make it seem like another person.

You are right on the money!! And if we all threaten to leave Answers unless they can give us some sort of assurance as to this matter, may be it would get taken care of quickly!

Is this right? How did you find out about this and are you sure?

I didn't know about this until now. I'm glad that you brought this up.

It would probably take the people at Yahoo forever to do anything.

This is what I just did.... I went on the fake Don's profile, went down the list of his questions asked and reported a bunch of them - one after another. Only took a minute. You can all do the same.

I advise possibly it got here approximately some cases, yet i think of they have been kidding. merely pass alongside with it, study the guiellines and words of service merely IN CASE, then delete your e mail speaking approximately it. definitely everyone gets suggested each and every so often, and it;'s many times for stupid motives, if any.
