Too fast for an Asian??? Damn, you must be lightning fast!! Now, if he'd said too fast for a redneck (meaning you actually flipped a page during a single bus ride), I might suggest you be offended.

Whoa!! Why would you feel offended. And did he actually say you flipped through the pages "for an Asian" too fast? If not, it's a compliment. If he did actually say that, then forget about him. He's useless.

The key word in your question was complimented. You shouldn't be offended by a compliment; although when you added on for an Asian, I would consider him very uncouth for that remark. He probably thought you were just visiting this country but it was very rude of him to assume such a thing. Relax and accept the compliment part, don't sweat the things you can't change.

I would have thought that was a compliment. But whatever...why let it bother you now?
Learn to take things on the cheek because life's full of annoying people and things. The sooner you learn to cope with them the better you'll get at resisting being offended, and this will make you a better person.

You said you were complimented. Sounds like you took the comment as a compliment. Pretty hard to be offended by a compliment. That is usually reserved for insults.

if he said it like that (you flipped the pages too fast for an asian) then take it as an insult...this person makes it sound as if asians cant read fast or something...good for you if u can read fast, i wish i could, i read really slow

I'd settle for confused. Why should anyone think an asian would read more slowly? If anything, I would have guessed popular opinion would be for the opposite side.

You know what they say, Wht if god was one of us , just another stranger on the bus(the song)...what if you just met god ???
But really...he probably meant that as a compliment in his own way.
Maybe he just frazed himself wrong.
It really depends on how he said it and only you know that.
I wouldn't go by what he said, rather , what he was trying to say.
He may have been impressed, and wanted to compliment you but it come out wrong.

Usually folks mean no harm, even if HOW they said something came out wrong. Give them the benefit of the doubt and be pleased someone was noticing your reading ability. It's all in your attitude!
