It's when there's a little pucker in the skin--the gross ones are little and just look like dents. The cute ones are indentations in your cheeks or maybe a baby's little chunky butt. I have cute dimples next to my smile--they look like little bumps when I'm not smiling, but when I smile, the bumps turn into little bowl-shaped indentations like Shirley Temple's dimples. Dimples are a dominant genetic trait--my mom only has one dimple, but my brother and I both have two. So if one parent has dimples, the offspring have at least a 75% chance of getting dimples. ok. some people have them... others don't.

dimples are when you smile and when your lips tighten it pulls the skin in.

so smile and put your hands on both sides of your lips and you will feel some "dents" if you have them.
