Nun's were "brought over" from Buddhism. The Catholic "religion" just needed a way to give women a job that wouldn't ALLOW them to "climb" up the church hierarchy.

Yes, Nuns are married to God, but you have to look at it in the context of a Community of Faith. Priests are married to the Church. The Church is the bride of Jesus Christ. What does that mean? That priests stand In Persona Christi (in the Person of Christ). In the same way, saying that Nuns are married to Jesus, you can conclude that they, in a very real way, represent the beauty of the Church. We are a community of believers who make up the Body of Christ, and when that is taken out of context, nothing makes sense.
The Scriptural basis for this is present, but I won't go into it here.

You have the entire concept wrong. When we Catholics say that nuns are "married" to God doesn't necessary mean they are married to Him and he's a polygamist. What they mean is that nuns have to remain loyal to God, and resist temptation of mankind (figuratively speaking.) It's a figure of speech! Metaphorical.. symbolic, emblematic.

For someone's info; the idea of a female being celebate, is a Biblical concept; Wisdom 3:13. If one thinks 'Wisdom' is not scripture, let them study the following points; 1. The Dead Sea Scrolls; and the fact that 'Hanakkah comes from 1 Maccabees 4. (a Catholic book).

I saw a nun in habit yesterday - I haven't seen that in a long time. Yes, I guess you are right if the fact that God never physically visits the nuns doesn't come into it.

Nuns aren't married to God. It's a mystical union. Totally different.

It was not God's idea that nuns should be married to God. You will never find that written in the Bible. It is a law dictated by man.

Nuns aren't married to God, its symbolism. By saying they are married to God, they are really saying that they are commited to God and have chosen to not be married to anyone on earth.
