Perfection, due to its very nature, is incredibly improbable and if it occurs will last only moments. However, imperfections can be absolutely endearing. If you love the right person for the right reasons, it will seem more than perfect enough.

Starting with your concern from deep down your heart " if not mistaken", I would assure you that you can achieve "Perfect Love". Yet you ask if you can ever trully love? By quoting you "Yet I believe that there is an ideal balance between that which is faultless and defective in the world" I believe that you spend too much time thinking about your future particularly in a perfect and the answer is yes. What matters, however, is the real partner who thinks the way you do and if you have that in common, therefore your dream will come true.
In addition to these something troubles me on your place. Actually I'm not an american (if you are) because I still have two years to make and become one but believe me, I have been desappointed with american behavior but I am glad there are people who see far away the way you do on what is perfect and how it can acomplished. What make me sad is fornication (young peaople), adultery (married couples) and divorces. All these are results of cold love or completely without love among those who claim to.

what is it perfection ?... Perfect love ?... not for us (human beings), i believe that we tend to exagerate all things, and we loose the balance when exageration comes. Do u know what really love means ?... no possesion, no obsession, no jealous, no domain, no exageration, no passions ... be eager to share ... not to ask or expect from someone else... are u eager to do that ?. Difficult ah ?... i've tried, but it is too hard. More than perfect love, we have known perfect sensations, and sensations is just the cover of love ..like the 5% of itself...Don't effort too much to be the best man in love ... try hard to be a just a good man in love ... it would be more than enough with no exagerations.
My point of view.

Love is not perfection. It's being able to deal with imperfections, and loving every minute of it.
