My mom got the zoom process and it did not really work for her. Her dentist said that she does not have the kind of teeth that can get whiter. He was not the first dentist that told her this - 10 years earlier another dentist told her the same thing.
Here's the thing though: With all the advances in technology such as BrightSmile, Crest Strips, and ZooM! its really hard for me to believe it that nothing can whiten her teeth.
But I just have to ask to make sure!

Lol. My mom only tried to whiten once. She did not use all the products I listed. I was using those products as examples. I did not know that bleaching only lifts stains and does not actually whiten the teeth. Her situation makes way more sense now. Thank you for the answers so far!

If a person's natural colour of teeth are off-white, then that's just the way they will have to live! Whitening products only take stains off teeth, such as from cigarettes or from coffee. Bleaching seems the only way to go, but it does more harm than good.

Generally, when people's teeth do not whiten with tradional methods, whether in office or at home, they used tetracycline as an antibiotic as a child. This antibiotic caused the permanent teeth to stain a gray or purple color. The underlying gray and purple colors are the most difficult to whiten and require an extended amount of time. Generally, it would take 6-10 weeks of whitening at a dental office to lighten these teeth, if not longer. If she has had root canals done on the teeth or they were traumatized at some point by a fall or being hit in the mouth, they would also require extended whitening since the tooth is technically a dead tooth. With teeth that have been root canaled, the dentist can whiten the teeth from the inside of the tooth and acheive faster results. Both ways are expensive and require alot of time, and the knowledge of a good dentist.

Whitening products can only bleach teeth out to a certain point. If your teeth are naturally very sensitive or porous or if your enamel is on the darker side, then bleach won't make them super-white. There are veneers and caps if the enamel is really weak or very unsightly. Your mom shouldn't waste her money on more advanced whitening processes--sometimes it just doesn't work. Sorry.

well if she tried all of the above , then no there is no cure for the build up on her teeth. teeth are very valuable to the body, and if not taken care of like supposed too.. then that effect could happen.

Teeth are just like your bones, they have a certain color to them. If her teeth are tinted yellow or greyish, her bones most likely are the same color. She could get veneers. Did she get charged anyway though, that would suck.
