OLd School says: During school days, lights out in teenage childs bdrm. no later than 9:30pm, and no later than 10:30pm during most summer nights. But now days thats a thing of the past, or they feel parents are too strict, old fashioned, or just being plain "mean". lol. So what is a good sensible hr. to cut off night time incoming & out going phone calls for 15 and 16 yr. olds without being like a prison warden to them and their friends?

10:00 because they had all day to talk to their friends and 10:00 is late enough for a teenager. besides your the boss and what ever time you set is your buisness and they will just have to get over it. they're lucky to talk to 10:00 because i know alot of parents that only let their kids talk till 8:00.

Well, when I was that age, my sister and I weren't allowed to receive incoming calls after 10 pm, but I do remember being on the phone with friends as late as 1 or 2 am during the summer and sometimes even on weekends during the school year. As long as I was quiet and didn't disturb the rest of the family, my parents didn't give me a "lights out" time or a specific time to hang up the phone during the summer. In fact, by that time, I no longer had a specific lights out time during the school year, as long as I was getting up and going to school without much fuss and keeping my grades up.

Sounds like your kids run your house. I always made Ben get off the phone at nine, and I didn't give a flip if he thought I was mean or old fashioned. He knew if he complained tomorrow night he might be getting off the phone at eight or maybe not talking on it at all! He lived through this and grew up to be a very successful well managed individual. He joined the Marines.

Some people may call it "old school" but children need boundaries. I'm 19 and i agree with you 9:30-10:30pm.That time of night ur ether talkin about the latest episode on MTV(which u can talk about in the morning) or phone boning.

Well, I would say NO calls TO your house after 10 pm. Teens OFF the phone by 11:00

I would say no later than 11pm. Incoming calls after 11 become pretty annoying to those who have to get up early in the morning.

around 12:00 no later than that but when school starts again it should be 10:30 and that is only if you have done everything you suppose to have done but the weekends its ok at 12 as well.

incoming...9:30...outgoing...the same.

I know as a teen (so many years ago) that call at 9:30 would still put me on the phone at midnight....so that is up to you..

My parents just didn't want to hear the phone ringing as as long at I was up in the morning by 8, they didn't care!

In my opinion 11 pm is a good time. If you allow it later, after your asleep, who knows who they could be talking too? I don't think its a warden issue but a loving, involved, concerned and responsible parent issue.
