HIGH ENERGY!!!!!

In general, GSP's are highly energetic, athletic dogs. They need exercise and fenced yards, or a runner in the family. The older dogs are less active, and are ideal placements with families who want more calm.

They like to self-hunt and, unless they have grown up with cats, can be cat sharp. GSP's are devoted, often to the point of dependency. Obedience training is strongly recommended by pople that know this breed.

I strongly suggest that you go to the AKC website and read all about the breed and it's normal characteristics. Before accepting the animal, ask the breeder for references that you can talk to, about the animals that they have bred and sold previously.
Make sure that there is a return policy in the sales contract. It's not a toaster that you're getting, and if it doesn't suite your lifestyle, then you don't want to ruin a nice dog and your home life.
Get advice from other GSP breeders, and be honest about your lifestyle and habits. They're great animals, but not suited for every home.

I know this could be a long shot but....Get two of em, these guys can wreak your place when they get bored. So with two, they can keep each other busy.

My next door neighbor had three (mother, father & daughter) the sweetest dogs i have ever incountered. It was a shame to see them go one after the other. But they did live from 10-12 years.

So what ya waiting for? GO GET YOUR PUPPY!!!! or puppIES!!!

Probably doing more research BEFORE buying would have been a good idea!!!!!!!!!!!

They run, dig, climb fences, and bark. They need a lot of exercise and attention or they can be destructive!!!!!

hunt them or enter them in field trials; they are high energy dogs with an overwhelming urge to hunt. Great dogs, my Dad had two.
