When it can be so easily disproved? Are you sure you are the real Jim Darwin? It doesn't seem like you.

Matthew 1:3 says---Judah, the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram.

Some folks are just agenda driven. Why bother with facts?

The verse that is quoted here was used to attempt to justify sex outside of marriage. However, the Bible (unlike most other religious texts), tells the good, the bad, and the ugly about human nature. When Judah did the horizontal polka with Tamar, he thought he was sleeping with a prostitute. Hardly a godly pursuit.

But God, in His wisdom, and perhaps with a bit of irony, used the offspring from that union for good. Including the genealogy of the Messiah.

This question is almost painfully easy to answer.

Because most of the people on this forum will not bother to check on the source of the quote. Think about it! When you see a dozen questions on a single page asking questions that a quick google seach will answer more accurately, it's a sure bet that none of them will bother to check a quote.

Those who already side with the person citing won't try to correct him, and what better way to gain a convert who stares, stupidly at a screen and says, "Oh, wow! I didn't know THAT!"

Those who don't side with him will dismiss the post out of hand or fire back a rebuttal. Rebuttal against what? An innacurate citation!

Really, how many people can cite biblical geneology to that kind of detail? How many more will look it up asking, " Wait a minute, Did he get that right?"
