I mean, i have heard guys brag about thier girlfriends and say some pretty dirty things..... Does this always happen when a guy gets a new girlfriend? Does he always brag?
I hate being considered an item......

Why do you brag? Do you really love her or is she just something to have sex with? Is it because you are so competitive??

Not all men do as you suggest. But many do, and it's all a childish action, going back to when they were boys.
They would brag about who had the most, or best toys and games. As if you got points for that.
I find the guys that do that, are lacking in self esteem and need something other than themselves, to get an ego boost.
If one of these idiots, manages to get a hot girl, on his arm, he figures, he has scored a whole lot of points, and he is better than his friends.
While what really happens, is we wonder what the hell she sees in him. He must have something we don't know.
But it all boild down to men being boys, and not growing up.

it's pretty much the same for guys as it is for girls accross the board. It depends on the person's personality. Generally speaking though, guys will probably brag a little more than women if their "interest" is hot. Men are visual animals after all!

I asked the same question to Sharky when we first got together and he said something that made sense it was something about the fact that a guy works so hard to get his girl that he really likes, so she does become kinda like a trophy but not in a bad way more in the sense that he is proud that he got the girl and wants to show her off to the world?? I better ask him to answer your question coz I am not making sense of any sensical kind !
