I've been reading old questions, and am stunned at the number of people who believe that firemen and policemen sit on their butts all day just collecting taxpayer monies - that they don't really work and do nothing to earn that money. I think that these people should have to wear signs proclaiming that they don't want any help when their house burns down or a criminal has a knife to their throat. I am livid.

Yes, they absolutely earn their pay. But you know there will always be people who want something to complain about. How somebody else is getting something undeserved. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

These people work hard and do a dangerous job for little money. In fact the firemen in my town are all volunteers. But some places cannot get enough volunteers and have to pay. When not at a fire or on a case. They are usually doing case work or taking care of the environment they work from. And they all have tons of reports.!

I THINK THE POLICE AND FIRE FIGHTER'S AS WELL AS TEACHER'S DO NOT GET PAID ENOUGH!! I HAVE YET TO MEET A LAZY POLICE OFFICER, FIRE FIGHTER, OR TEACHER. THEY DO EARN THEIR PAY AND DESERVES MORE!
PEOPLE WHO MAKE THOSE JUDGEMENTS SHOULD TRY BEING IN A POLICEMAN'S, OR FIREMAN'S, SHOES FOR A DAY, OR A WEEK OR A MONTH, THEN COME BACK AND TELL ME DIFFERENT.
FIRE'S CANNOT BE PUT OUT IF FIRE FIGHTERS ARE SITTING ON THEIR BUTTS!!, CRIMINALS CANNOT BE ARRESTED IF POLICE MEN ARE SITTING ON THEIR TAILS.
PEOPLE ARE QUICK WITH THE TOUNGE, BUT SLOW TO JUMP IN AND TRY TO HELP!

For a lot of these guys, it is hours of routine interrupted by minutes of sheer terror. We need them desperately.
