Judah had sex with Perez's mom in Genesis,
Judah and the woman weren't married.

What is so wrong about having sex outside of marriage, it might be God's way of procreating the species and leading to - the birth of a GOD INCARNATE

I guess marriage hadn't been invented yet. But, it is my personal opinion that marriage was invented as a device of control, just like religions. And the "rules" of marriage prove that. The only things it's good for are mutual support, sex, and child raiseing. But, when our son is an adult, if my husband and I part ways for some reason, I will NEVER get married again.

THINK ABOUT IT. Just because someone did it in the Bible, doesn't mean it's right. People in the Bible, especially the Old Testament, made mistakes all the time. (lying, cheating...) This shows us that you don't have to be a perfect human being to follow God. All we have to do is ask for forgiveness when we mess up.

And for all of you who answered this question WITHOUT reading the verses, here is part of Matthew 1:1-6:
"The family tree of Jesus Christ, David's son, Abraham's son:
Abraham had Issac,
Isaac had Jacob,
Jacob had Judah and his brothers,
Judah had Perez and Zerah (The mother was Tamar.),"
..........
this list keeps going for a while. WHAT in there tells you that sex outside of marriage is okay???

Oh, read 1 Corinthians chapter 6, especially verses 16-20. (Note: Also read Genesis 2:23-25 to see when a man and woman are supposed to become one flesh. ANSWER: in marriage!)

And since most of you probably won't read 1 Corinthians chapter 6, here's part of it:
".... we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment...., leaving us more lonely than ever- the kind that can never 'become one'." This means that the only appropriate time for sex is between husband and wife.

May God bless you! He loves you; don't ever forget that.

Just because the Bible says that it did happen, doesn't mean it was right or condoned by God. You may also remember that Judah's daughter in law "played the harlot". One other thing to note is that a concubine as mentioned in the OT is actually married to that man, but only legally by the laws of the land, and not married under God for time and eternity. A man having multiple wives was not considered a sin during those times.

The Law of Moses included the "Thou shalt not commit adultery" commandment. Adultery refers to sexual relations with anyone to whom you are not married. In fulfilling the Law of Moses, the commandments were not done away with, but expanded upon by Christ. Breaking the law of chastity was a serious crime in both Old Testament and New Testament times. It was then when it became wrong (or perhaps not necessary) for a man to have more than one wife do to the number of men vs. women being more balanced as it is now.

The bible makes clear about fornication being wrong. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says "Flee from fornication. Every other sin that a man may commit is outside his body, but he that practices fornication is sinning against his own body. " 1 Thessalonians 4: 3 says "For this is what God wills, the sanctifying of YOU, that YOU abstain from fornication;" What is fornication? It's a term which refers to any sexual activity between unmarried partners. God used procreation in the beginning as a way to popluate the earth. Jesus already came to earth that way once...that's not how he said he would return.

Judah had relations with Ta'mar when Ta'mar tricked Judah. Judahs son who was married to Ta'mar died without leaving offspring, the custom then was a brother of the deceased would preform brother-n-law marriage to have a son with her so as to raise a son for his brother to have an inheritance for him. his brother was not willing do this and God took his life, Judah held back his third son fearing he would die as well, so Ta'mar tricked Judah himself into getting her pregnant so she could have a son to raise up for her first husband, and Pe'rez was born to her and was in the line leading to Jesus. Obviously God permitted this because of circumstances. Also this was before God made Israel his special inheritance from among all mankind and handed down his laws to them. And well before Christ and the Christian Greek scriptures where you find the command not to fornicate or have sex outside the marriage arrangement.

Wow I cannot believe these answers you are getting. I mean come on.....why is sex made into such a big deal? Its human nature and there is nothing "evil" or "sinful" about it. As long as you are responsible its fine. I especially hate the answer that babbles on about "Do you want to give everyone AIDS!!" hahaha you can't give people HIV if you don't have it! You can have sex before marriage without being a WHORE! You people are morons

All of you put way too much stock in a "BOOK" that was written by "MEN" then rewritten and rewritten countless times over the millennium. Usually to co-inside with what they wanted the people at the time to believe, so they could control the masses. More people need to start thinking for themselves instead of blindly following antiquated books that have no reliable basis left in them. There would be a lot less killing and a lot more caring.
Sorry in answer to your question no something that exquisitely beautiful can't be wrong.

Oh for crying out loud. You know people killed each other in the Bible too, does that make it right? Just because you read a story in the Bible where someone had pre or extramarital sex does not mean it is right. King David had a man killed so he could sleep with his wife. Lot's daughters got their father drunk and had sex with him. They used to take multiple wives too. You really need to learn how to interpret the illustrations in the Bible. It's not "The Big Book of Thou Shalt Nots"

Yes sex outside of marriage is bad! God made sex for you to enjoy it with the person you get married to not with every person you think you have fallen in love with. When you wait untill you are married it is also way more meaningful. Why do you think your wedding night is supposed to be so wonderful?? But keep reading Gods word its nothing but the TRUTH!!

God warn us to not have sex before marriage for many reasons, but is more because he don't want us to have problems in the future.

The reason why there are so many divorces right now, is because people now are having multiple partners.

For example. This woman who is married to this man, everytime she has sex with her husband she can't stop thinking about the first partner she had, because she thinks he was better, or viceversa.

The marriage gets worse everyday. They aren't satisfied with their marriage. She cheats. Another problem occurs. Then she divorces.

I could put you many real life examples about people who are having problems with their relationships because of not saving themselves for one partner.

God really want us to follow his plan so we can have a better and peaceful life.
