You get paid when the pups are born. It has to be a guaranteed delivery. We raise horses, and that's the way we all do it. That way you won't have to refund your money if there are no pups! = )

Draw up a stud services contract. In it, specify how many puppies constitutes a successful breeding. The traditional fee usually equals the cost of a puppy. Get a deposit at the time of the breeding. Get the balance after the pups are born.

Some folks keep a puppy as fee for stud service.

Whatever you do, spell it all out in a written contract that both parties can agree on. Do a Google search to find samples of a stud contract for dogs. Find one you like and tailor it to meet yours and the dam's mutual agreement. A written contract might be your only recourse if something unexpected happens. It's in both parties best interests to have something in writing.

if you stud your dog out you have 2 options either pick of the litter or the owner pays a stud fee.the stud fee can be paid up front or when the pups are born, depending on the business arrangement. the owner of the ***** sells the pups for the same price of the stud fee. with horses the stud fee is paid when you have a live foal on the ground.if you get the money up front and the ***** doesn't take you will have to give the money back or wait until she comes back into estrus.

what breed of dog are u studing to? and also if the puppies are very expensive u have a choice of getting the first pick of the litter or the amount u want for it, but it cant be any higher the value of one puppy. u wont get the money untill the pups are born bcuz if the breeding didnt take they wouldnt have to pay u in return. so most likely u dont get the money untill the pups are born or the whole litter is sold b4 they are born and the fact is well know that the breeding did take

most breeders will request either a stud fee depending on breed and quility of genes this fee ranges and usually requires several certifications for predisposed health problems, or they get a pick from the litter. if you get a dollar figure payment you get it up front or on the last attempt at breeding(2-5tries).
it is good to get a relationship with the other breeder so future breeding can be easier.

It also depends on whether you are guaranteeing a litter. Don't take the money unless you can repaid the person if the dog doesn't get pregnant.

The stud's owner may charge you a fee, or may prefer to have "pick of the litter".
